The Ilocos Norte provincial government has partnered with the Department of Education (DepEd) to promote educational tours for learners in the province.

The initiative, dubbed “Pasyar: Open Ilocos Norte Tours for Pupils,” will run from Feb. 4 to 20, 2026 as part of the month-long celebration of the province’s 208th foundation anniversary.

“The Pasyar tour aims to familiarize younger Ilocanos about our province,” Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos said in a statement Tuesday.

She said many learners, particularly those in far-flung areas, have not visited key popular sites in the province such as the Laoag International Airport, Currimao seaport, and the Ilocandia Cultural Center.

The program will provide students with first-hand exposure to government offices, heritage sites, and tourism destinations, Marcos said.

It also pairs northern municipalities with southern towns to foster cross-provincial engagement and a deeper appreciation of local governance and culture. (PNA)
