The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) expands access to comprehensive social protection programs through its Pamilya sa Bagong Pilipinas (PBP) initiative that is being implemented across target pilot regions.
The PBP operations, which are being held in hubs inside SM malls, are in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to streamline social welfare access and bring government services closer and directly to vulnerable Filipino families.
The PBP hubs coordinate services based on the life transitions and needs of individuals and families, while strengthening access to financial and non-monetary assistance.
“The DSWD is always dedicated to bringing social welfare services directly to communities through accessible digital profiling and structured referral pathways,” DSWD spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao said in a news release Thursday.
The DSWD recorded 1,092 inquiries, profiled 655 individuals into the centralized database, and matched 124 clients to appropriate non-monetary services during initial rollouts in the National Capital Region, Cagayan Valley, Negros Island Region, and Caraga Region.
Operating as local convergence centers, PBP hubs use valid Philippine National ID (PhilSys) authentication to conduct digital intake and connect beneficiaries to tailored social welfare interventions along individual and family life stages.
“Ang DSWD po ginagawa ang lahat at sa pamamagitan ng paglalagay ng mga registration site sa mga accessible na lugar, para masiguro na walang pamilyang Pilipino ang maiiwan sa ating layunin na magkaroon ng isang modern at integrated social protection network (The DSWD is doing everything, and establishing registration sites in accessible places ensures that no Filipino is left behind in our objective to have a modern and integrated social protection network),” Dumlao said.
The initiative aligns social protection interventions through the PBP Compendium using a life-course development framework, organizing DSWD services into Bagong Pamilyang Pilipino for lifecycle transitions, Bumabangon sa Gitna ng mga Hamon for crisis management, and Maunlad at Matatag na Pamilya for long-term family resilience.
To sustain an uninterrupted delivery of services, the DSWD will maintain mobile hub operations in strategic commercial locations ahead of a scheduled program evaluation in the fourth quarter to further refine implementation strategies nationwide. (PNA)
