How do warriors fight a powerful enemy that they cannot see? What are their struggles when they are deep in the trenches of a deadly war zone? These are the questions that ABS-CBN DocuCentral’s timely documentary titled “Heroes in the Hot Zone” answers this Sunday (April 26) at 9 pm on ABS-CBN.
In the documentary, journalist Raphael Bosano will show the impact of the global pandemic in the lives of Filipinos through the stories of three Filipino doctors in the frontline of the country’s battle against COVID-19.
The first doctor takes viewers inside the war zone, from the triage tent where COVID-19 tests are conducted, into the madness in the emergency room, and the chilling wards where patients have to endure their battle against the disease in isolation.
“Heroes in the Hot Zone” also tells the story of a doctor who succumbed to the disease after logging in long work shifts and sacrificing time with family, emphasizing the importance of protecting health workers with sufficient safety gear and proper care for their wellbeing.
Meanwhile, another doctor that was infected with the disease shares his journey to recovery, giving viewers a better grasp of what’s it like to be at the mercy of the virus—and beating it.
The COVID-19 pandemic has put the entire world in war mode, where the “soldiers” being deployed are brave health workers. Each battle day is long and exhausting. Each patient they treat puts them at high risk of contracting and dying from COVID-19. But they continue to fight and remain hopeful in order to save more lives.
In the country, the statistics are alarming as the Department of Health (DOH) reported that over 700 health workers have been infected by the coronavirus. And among the casualties are Filipino doctors and nurses, the real heroes in the frontlines who went above and beyond their call of duty.
Listen to the stories of health workers risking their lives in the fight against COVID-19 in “Heroes in the Hot Zone” this Sunday (April 26) at 9 pm on ABS-CBN and on iWant.
