ABS-CBN’s documentary on the nation’s girl group, BINI, has been shortlisted for the 2025 New York Festivals TV and Film Awards in the Best Documentary—Biography and Profiles category.

“BINI Chapter 1: Born to Win,” produced by iWantOriginals and ABS-CBN News Documentaries, captures the group’s defining moments, offering an in-depth look at the group’s journey—from auditions to the group’s rise to stardom.

The documentary film also features the narratives and experiences of BINI Jhoanna, Maloi, Gwen, Mikha, Aiah, Colet, Sheena, and Stacey.

Directed by filmmaker Jet Leyco, written by ABS-CBN chief of reporters Jeff Canoy, edited by Brian Gonzales, and produced by Karen Namora, Hera Sanchez, and Tanya Navarro, the film serves as ABS-CBN News’ first feature-length documentary in four years.

The winners of the 2025 New York Festivals TV and Film Awards will be announced at a storytelling gala ceremony on May 22, honoring outstanding content from over 50 countries.

ABS-CBN News previously garnered recognitions at the New York Festivals, including a Bronze World Medal for Best Public Affairs Program for “KBYN: Kaagapay ng Bayan,” a Bronze World Medal for Best Documentary for “#NoFilter: Tao Po,” a Gold World Medal for the Marawi documentary “Di Ka Pasisiil,” and a Silver World Medal for the modern slavery documentary “Fedelina: A Stolen Life,” among others.
