Trainers in the fields of agriculture and culinary were adjudged “Idols ng TESDA,” an annual recognition to honor technical and vocational (tech-voc) graduates who achieved exceptional success in their chosen fields.

In a news release Tuesday, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) acknowledged the idols’ “support [that] comes in many forms and is felt in many ways.”

“You are the champions of TVET (tech-voc education and training) and your advocacy and support help us ensure that our programs remain relevant, responsive, and rooted in real industry needs,” TESDA Secretary Jose Francisco Benitez said.

Isabelito Carpio, a trainer in the field of agriculture, was declared national winner in the wage-employed category.

Mary Rose Gemma Rodriguez, a culinary educator, won in the self-employed category.

They received PHP30,000 each from TESDA.

The first and second runners-up were awarded PHP25,000 and PHP20,000 each, respectively.

“You now create employment for others. You contribute to local development and inspire the next generation,” Benitez said. (PNA)
