Amid air travel restrictions implemented by the local government of Puerto Princesa from March 15 to April 14 in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in the country, AirAsia Philippines announced it would mount special flights from March 16-19.

AirAsia Philippines communications staff, Mariane Mantaring, confirmed that the special recovery flights were requested by and coordinated with Palawan Governor’s office.

On March 16, the carrier will operate two Cebu-Puerto Princesa, and two Puerto Princesa-Cebu flights.

From March 16-19, Clark-Puerto Princesa-Clark services will be operated.

Aside from Puerto Princesa, the local government of Cebu also announced air travel restrictions, prohibiting domestic arrivals from Clark, Legazpi City, Cagayan de Oro City, and Dumaguete City from March 14 to April 14.

As of Sunday afternoon, the number of confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in the country has risen to 140. (PNA)
