All is set for the conduct of the Caraga Regional Athletic Games 2024 (CRAG 2024), which will be held from May 5 to 11 at the provincial capitol grounds in Barangay Patin-ay, Prosperidad town in Agusan del Sur.

In a statement Friday, the Department of Education (DepEd) 13 (Caraga Region) said key regional committees tasked to oversee the duration of CRAG 2024 had convened to ensure the seamless execution of the event.

More than 10,000 athletes, coaches, tournament officials, and guests are expected to join the weeklong CRAG 2024.

Since Wednesday, delegates from the 12 divisions of DepEd-13 in five provinces have begun to arrive in Prosperidad town.

Meanwhile, Governor Santiago Cane Jr. ordered 24-hour police visibility and deployment of search and rescue teams with equipment at game sites and athlete billeting areas for delegate safety, the provincial government said in a separate statement Friday.

Firetrucks will also be assigned to the different quarters, and the water district in the town of San Francisco will also provide 20,000 liters of water daily for all the delegates.

During the weeklong event, the CRAG athletes will compete in different sports activities, including basketball, baseball, football, softball, and futsal; track and field; archery; arnis; pencak silat; wrestling; wushu; and boxing.

Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte is expected to grace the opening ceremonies. (PNA)
