The city government here has started to upgrade the existing health center facilities here in a bid to boost the delivery of medical and health services to the residents.

Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr., together with his brother 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, led on Monday ceremonies to expand three existing health centers in barangays Pulungbulu, Tabun and Capaya.

“With this initiative to construct, repair and improve our existing health centers, we will be bringing medical services closer to our kababayans who will be needing medical attention. We aim to provide for more accessible and of course free, health services to Angeleños,” Mayor Lazatin said during the event.

The mayor said that the city government is set to upgrade 11 health center facilities with a total worth PHP59.94 million this year intended to nine villages in this city.

The groundbreaking ceremonies for the eight remaining health centers will follow suit until May 3.

He said soon after the upgrading, those health centers will be called primary care facilities.

Lazatin added that one of his administration’s thrusts is to rehabilitate all existing six rural health units and 28 sub-health centers in the city. (PNA)
