The MassKara Festival dancers of Barangay Granada will receive a PHP1.5-million subsidy from the Sinulog Foundation Inc. to represent Bacolod City in the Sinulog sa Sugbo World 2025 in Cebu City on Jan. 19.

“This highlights the significance of their role in representing Bacolod City,” the City Tourism Office said in a statement on Monday.

Barangay Granada, a six-time champion of the MassKara Festival street dance and arena competition, including the 2024 edition, will perform at Sinulog for the second time after their debut last year.

Chief tourism operations officer Teresa Manalili said the city government is confident that the Barangay Granada MassKara dancers will “shine at Sinulog 2025, showcasing the best of our city’s culture.”

“These performers were selected because they emerged as the champions of the MassKara Festival street dance competition. Their victory reflects not only their skill and artistry, but also their unwavering passion and commitment to representing Bacolod City on a national stage,” she added.

The delegation, consisting of 60 dancers and 100 propsmen, will travel to Cebu on Jan. 15 and will perform during the Grand Parade on Jan. 19.

This year’s Sinulog sa Sugbo, themed “One Beat, One Dance, One Vision,” will feature activities such as the grand parade, street and stage dancing, festival queen competition, and ritual showdowns. (PNA)
