The provincial government here has started the vaccination of minors with comorbidities in preparation for the face-to-face classes next year.

Governor Daniel Fernando said on Wednesday at least 150 minors with comorbidity have received Pfizer and Moderna vaccines during the vaccination at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.

“Once bakunado na po lahat ang mga kabataang Bulakenyo edad 12-17 lalo na ang mga estudyante ay saka pa lang po natin papayagan ang face-to-face classes (Once all the Bulakenyo minors aged 12-17 are fully vaccinated, especially the students, that is the only time face-to-face classes will be allowed),” the governor said in an interview.

Most of the minors inoculated with Covid-19 vaccines have asthma.

“Relax na ako at least protektado na anak ko, nawala na yun pangamba at agam-agam (I am relaxed and at least my daughter is now protected. I have no more fear),” said Kaysea Gumatay mother of Chelsea,12, an asthma patient from Santa Maria town, who got her first dose of Pfizer vaccine.

Provincial Task Force Response Cluster head Hjordis Marushka Celis said the group that was inoculated is part of the 10 percent aged 12-17 with comorbidities out of a total 500,000 minors in the province.

Meanwhile, at least 65 percent of the total 2.7 million population in the province were vaccinated with 37 percent having received the first dose while 28 percent are fully protected.

Bulacan has been placed under Alert Level 2 from Nov. 1-14 following the decline in the number of Covid-19 cases.

Fernando, however, cited the need to continue following the mandatory observance of minimum public health standards and curfew hours from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.

As of Nov. 2, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the province is 87,093 wherein 1,060 are active cases. The total number of recoveries is 84,624 while the total number of deaths is 1,409. (PNA)
