At least 93.2 percent of the total 120,339 individuals who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Central Luzon since the onset of the pandemic last year has recovered.

Based on the latest regional case bulletin of the Department of Health-Central Luzon Health Development (DOH-CLHD) released on Wednesday night, the region logged 758 new recoveries on a single day, pushing the total number of recovered patients to 112,159.

The DOH-CLHD also reported 5,213 currently active cases or 4.3 percent of the total number of patients.

Of these, 4,979 are mild cases, 66 are asymptomatic, 79 are moderate, 68 are severe, and 21 in critical condition.

On the other hand, the DOH-CLHD said the total number of those who succumbed to Covid-19 in the region is 2,967, which is 2.5 percent of the total caseload.

As of June 16, there are 397 new cases reported in the region.

Bataan has the highest number of new cases with 84; followed by Bulacan with 61; Pampanga with 59; Tarlac, 52; Aurora, 45; Nueva Ecija, 28; Zambales, 26; Angeles City, 24; and Olongapo City, 18.

The DOH-CLCHD reminded the public not to be complacent and to continuously follow the minimum health standards amid the vaccination rollout.

DOH Regional Director Corazon Flores has reiterated that wearing face masks, frequent washing of hands, observing physical distancing, staying at home, and foregoing non-essential travels are still important to keep everyone safe and protected from Covid-19.

“The threat of Covid-19 is still with us. It is very important that even though the Covid-19 cases have gone down, we have to be vigilant so that the cases of Covid-19 will not increase. Observe at all times, the minimum health standards,” Flores said in an official social media post. (PNA)
