Two farmers’ cooperatives and an irrigators’ association signed a marketing agreement with a local educational institution to supply rice, fish, and vegetables.

The agreement, facilitated Thursday by the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Caraga (DSWD-13) Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program, involves the Lower Agusan River Pump Irrigation System (LARPIS), Fisherfolk Initiative for Sustainable Harvest Fishermen Cooperative (Fish Coop), and Tabuan Vendors Consumers Cooperative (TAVECC).

The three groups will provide Couples for Christ-School of the Morning Star, Inc. with essential supplies for use on campus and in its community initiatives.

The partnership ensures that the school receives regular supplies, with LARPIS providing rice, Fish Coop delivering fresh bangus (milkfish) and TAVECC supplying assorted vegetables.

“This agreement strengthens community networks and offers a stable market for local producers in Butuan City,” DSWD-13 said in a Friday statement.

LARPIS representatives expressed gratitude to DSWD-13 and the EPAHP program, noting that the agreement secures a guaranteed market for their rice products.

TAVECC, meanwhile, is grateful for the benefits to its members engaged in vegetable farming across villages. (PNA)
