Over 1,000 indigent residents in four villages of Cordova town, Cebu province received free medical checkups, medicines and other non-medical services during a civic action mission conducted by the Philippine Army reservists and volunteer doctors during the weekend.

Maj. Thadeo Jonkie Ouano, designated ground commander of the medical mission, said more than 500 individuals were given medical consultations, and about 200 residents got free tooth extraction and prophylaxis.

Ouano said close to 100 children underwent consultations and got free supplements, while 70 young and adult residents availed of free haircuts and prescription eyeglasses.

A total of 26 male children were circumcised while 10 individuals were provided with free legal consultations and drafting of affidavits for notarization.

“Residents of Cordova need our services. The town is among the LGUs (local government units) in Cebu that suffered due to the effect of El Niño phenomenon. We are here to bring government services right to their doorsteps,” Ouano said in a statement. (PNA)
