The annual arts and music festival that ushers the Christmas celebration in Ilocos Norte has been set next week.

“Himala sa Buhangin” (Miracle in Sands) will be held on Dec. 6 and 7 at the famous sand dunes of Paoay.

The event will feature bands, fire dancers and bamboo installations that celebrate the works of farmers and fisherfolk, with forms inspired by garlic and elements of the sea, including “alat,” a traditional fishing paraphernalia made of bamboo.

With tickets priced at PHP750 to PHP2,000, Ilocos Norte Governor Cecilia Araneta-Marcos enjoined the public to experience the festival with families and friends.

“Ilocos Norte residents will enjoy bigger discounts and free shuttle will be available all throughout the event until closing time,” she said.

The free shuttle service has pick up points in the cities of Laoag, Batac and Paoay.

Now running for 12 years, the festival has become a regular platform for local artists to showcase their talents, as well as for local entrepreneurs to generate more sales from their merchandise during the event.

Like in previous years, sand sports adventures such as 4X4 racing and sand boarding will be available for festival goers to enjoy.

There will also be sunset film screening and 4×4 test drive of BYD.

The festival is organized the provincial government through the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office. (PNA)
