The Department of Agriculture (DA) has rolled out the “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita” in the province of Zambales to boost local agricultural industry amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
This is the first time that the DA, through the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), set up an outlet at the People’s Park in Provincial Capitol in Iba, Zambales where 17 exhibitors and farmers bring their products and sell to consumers.
Carmencita Nogoy, chief of Market Development Section of DA-AMAD 3, said on Wednesday the outlet offers quality, affordable, and safe agricultural products ranging from lowland vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and processed marine products, among others.
“The project aims to help farmers get the best prices for their goods while providing affordable, safe, and nutritious food to the consumers,” Nogoy said in an official social media account.
Zambales provincial agriculturist Russell Quitaneg encouraged the consumers to support the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita.
“Very timely ang programang Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita dahil isa itong sistema ng marketing na kung saan tinutulungan ang mga magsasaka na maibenta sa reasonable na halaga yung kanilang mga ani at produkto. Layunin din nito na mailapit sa mga consumers o mamimili ang mga produkto sa murang halaga (The Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program is very timely because it is a marketing system where farmers are being helped to sell their products at reasonable prices. It also aims to bring products to the consumers at cheaper prices),” Quitaneg said.
Rose Fernandez, one of the buyers, said the outlet is a convenient place to shop and offers various agricultural products at affordable prices.
Fernandez said they opted to buy from the outlet instead in markets.
“Malaking bagay po na mayroong Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita ngayon sa aming lugar dahil ang mga napamili ko rito ngayon ay mas mura at sariwa kumpara sa mga palengke. (It is a big thing that there is Kadiwa ni Ani and Kita now in our area because the ones I bought are cheaper and fresher compared to the markets),” she said.
The Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita in Zambales will run until Feb. 26 this year. (PNA)
