The Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) announced Thursday that Pasko Fiesta 2024 will officially kick off on Nov. 28, ushering in a festive season under the theme “Enchanted Woodland: The Magic of Forest in the Heart of the City.”

In a video interview, CTOO officer in charge Jennifer Romero shared that the executive committee (Execom) is finalizing preparations.

“Our Execom is in charge of all arrangements, and we’re just waiting for the decorations to go up,” Romero said.

Residents can expect vibrant displays of giant reindeer, festive gift boxes, Santa’s sleigh, music, arts, and dance performances to transform the city hall grounds, she said.

This year’s Pasko Fiesta features 15 major events, highlighted by five competitions: Koro sa Pasko on Dec. 7, Banda Dasig on Dec. 15, Sayaw sa Pasko on Dec. 21, Pasko Panag-uban (a rhythm and joy showdown) on Dec. 13, and the new Mugna sa Pasko, a Christmas-themed creative costume competition, set for Dec. 15, coinciding with the Parada sa Pasko.

From Nov. 29 to Dec. 29, the city government will serenade residents with Christmas songs through the “Panayegon sa City Hall.”

The Perya sa Pasko, offering traditional fairground attractions, will run at Rizal Park from Dec. 1 to 27, while Music in the Park will debut at Magsaysay Park on Dec. 7.

Additionally, the CTOO has chosen two barangays from each of the city’s three congressional districts to host the Christmas on Wheels, or “Kasadya sa Pasko,” and “Kalingawan sa Distrito” programs.

The Pasko Fiesta Grand Bazaar at Esplanade Park, Bago Aplaya, will cap off the celebrations from Dec. 26 to 31. (PNA)
