To promote health and well–being, the City Environment and Natural Resource Office (CENRO) is set to open two more green spaces and launch two more parks within the year.

In an interview on Friday, Engr. Marivic Reyes, CENRO chief, said Toril Park and Roxas Greenway Park would be added to the city’s 27 existing parks, playgrounds, and green spaces projects in the coming months.

“Establishing green spaces in the city’s densely populated areas will provide the public with the space to decompress from the day-to-day pressures of urban life. The local government recognizes public parks and green spaces as means to promote the physical and mental well-being of Dabawenyos,” Reyes said.

Last year, the local government opened Los Amigos Park and Doña Vicenta Park to the public.

It also opened two parks along the city’s Coastal Road – the Bago Esplanade and the Gulf View Esplanade.

Reyes said several pocket parks have also been opened across the city, which include Candelaria Park on Quimpo Boulevard, Matina Linear Park on the McArthur Highway, and the Communal Pocket Park in Mutual Homes, Barangay Communal. (PNA)
