The Police Regional Office-3 (Central Luzon) is doing its share to address global warming and climate change.

The PRO-3, in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) in this province, conducted a tree planting activity on Friday in Barangay Ayala, Magalang, this province.

Some 100 PRO-3 personnel and DENR-PENRO foresters planted 500 seedlings of fruit and non-fruit bearing trees in the environment protected area of Magalang.

“PRO-3 upholds the significance of the Philippine National Police (PNP) core value “Makakalikasan” and will continuously empower our personnel in preserving and protecting the environment,” Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. de Leon, PRO-3 regional director, said in a statement.

Prior to the tree planting activity, a memorandum of agreement was signed by De Leon and DENR-PENRO officer Laudemir Salac for the two agencies’ stronger partnership on environmental protection.

Under the agreement, the PRO-3 will adopt 20 hectares of a National Greening Program site in Magalang through the conduct of tree planting activities. (PNA)
