The Department of Environment and Natural Resources in Bicol (DENR-5) is currently showcasing forest-related products as part of the International Day of the Forest 2023 celebration through the 2nd Yamang Gubat Trade Fair at Ayala Malls here.

In a statement on Thursday, DENR Regional Executive Director Francisco E. Milla Jr. encouraged the commitment of all stakeholders to support the development and continuity of a sustainable and resilient environment.

He said the trade fair themed “Forests and Health” started March 22 and will run until March 24, has 14 exhibitors aiming to engage the public in honoring the forests by advocating sustainable forest resources consumption and production regionwide.

“Forests are very generous and giving, but they are vulnerable. So, immediate actions for its conservation and protection should be our top priority. Together, let us build a safe and healthy environment for the present and future generations,” Milla said.

He thanked all participants and exhibitors for their effort and support to promote environmental preservation and conservation.

The exhibited local products included handmade abaca and rattan products, furniture, wooden materials, cutleries, handicrafts, home decors, mats, bamboo novelty items, plants, pili, cocoa, food items, citronella essential oils, dishwashing soap, repellant, lotion, and soaps.

International Day of Forests is observed every March 21 to promote the importance of forest preservation. (PNA)
