The Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday urged more parents and guardians to take part in the early registration campaign for incoming Kindergarten, Grades 1, 7, and 11 for the school year (SY) 2025-2026 in the Bicol region.

In an interview, Mayflor Marie Jumamil, the chief of DepEd Bicol’s Public Information Unit, said the registration is intended to determine the expected number of students for the upcoming school year and assess whether existing resources are adequate.

Jumamil said since the early registration began on Jan. 25, more than 140,000 learners have already signed up for the upcoming school year.

“The early registration period is set to conclude on Feb. 15,” she said.

Jumamil added that the data collected from early registrations will significantly contribute to the planning for educational institutions across the Bicol Region.

Among the early enrollees are 32,837 in Kindergarten; 51,307 in Grade 1; 32,913 in Grade 7; and 28,538 in Grade 11.

Jumamil said that DepEd Bicol is targeting at least 550,827 enrollees from the 3,577 public schools in the region.

“Parents or guardians can visit local public schools to inquire about early registration requirements. They can obtain the basic education early registration form at the school for free. This form is necessary for schools to gather essential information about the learners,” she added. (PNA)
