The Department of Education-Cordillera Administrative Region (DepEd-CAR) has hired nearly 1,400 teaching and non-teaching staff under the Marcos administration.

DepEd-CAR Director Dr. Estela Cariño said during the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas briefing here Tuesday that national government support enables the agency to better support the region’s learners.

“Every year, in the last three years, the region received 1,078 new teacher positions, with 1,047 already filled up,” she said.

Cariño said 322 new non-teaching positions were also given to the region “so that they (the teachers) can concentrate on their teaching functions.”

“In the last PISA (Program for International Students Assessment), we were among those that turned out to have performed well,” she added.

Cariño also reported that 113 classrooms worth more than PHP500 million have been constructed since 2022.

“We will continue to adopt and improve as a region amid challenges and difficulty,” Cariño added. (PNA)
