The Department of Education (DepEd) has recognized 60 partners in Eastern Visayas to inspire stakeholders to continue their commitment to education.

In a gathering at the Madison Park Hotel here Thursday, DepEd 8 (Eastern Visayas) Director Ronelo Al Firmo said stakeholders across various sectors extend vital support through resources, technical assistance, and advocacy to liberate basic education for all.

“Education is not the work of DepEd alone since this is the work of the community who helps transform education. We are never alone in this journey. Thank you for believing that every child deserves education and no learner is left behind,” Firmo said.

Recognized were seven private lending institutions, 13 journalists, 13 non-government organizations, a private company, four international organizations, nine national government agencies, a private individual who funded the construction of a school building, seven city and municipal mayors, and five provincial governors.

DepEd Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and External Partnerships Cilette Liboro Co said every partnership gives hope to more children to achieve their dreams.

“One example is the partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Korea International Cooperation Agency that gave rise to education for girls in Leyte. The alliance creates opportunities for Filipino learners,” Co said.

The partnership with two international organizations paved the way for the construction of a school for young female learners who have no opportunity to go through regular classes due to extreme poverty.

Anchored on the theme “Kabalikat sa Pag-aaral: Uniting Hearts, Transforming Education,” the event aims to foster a culture of appreciation and inclusivity while also inspiring stakeholders to sustain their commitment to education. (PNA)
