Award-winning Filipina actress Dolly de Leon shared her overflowing emotions after being chosen to participate in the Academy.
On June 29, Dolly posted a screenshot of an invitation from the Academy as one of its invitees focusing on motion picture arts and sciences led by the Oscars.
“My dream has always been clear to me – to work with artists I admire and respect. This was never part of the plan,” she said.
The award-winning actress was chosen to attend the prestigious class along with Hollywood artists such as Taylor Swift, Austin Butler, Keke Palmer, Selma Blair, and Stephanie Hsu.
Noting this invitation, Dolly expressed her gratitude to the Oscars, saying it was an important milestone in her acting career.
“It’s a step closer to the goal and gives many others like me hope,” she said.
In her statement, she also encouraged everyone to never stop reaching for their goals because, just like her, they will always achieve them despite challenges.
“For those of you who dare to dream, know that nothing is impossible. Now it’s your turn. Laban!” she said.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its list of invitees on June 28, and at least 398 artists and executives representing 51 countries made it to the official list of the Academy.
With this outstanding milestone for Dolly, her co-artists stated their congratulatory messages, showing how proud they were of them, with the artist knowing that she is the only Filipino on the list.
“Super inspired by you!!!!! Congratulations!!” Gab Pangilinan commented.
De Leon was known for her breakout role in the international film “Triangle of Sadness,” which premiered in 2022.
Aside from nominations and being part of the Academy, De Leon will also be invited to star in season two of the international mystery-thriller series “Nine Perfect Stranger,” and she will be joining together with Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, Luke Evans, and Filipino-Canadian actor Manny Jacinto.
