Former “Idol Philippines” season 2 contestant Drei Sugay talks about the blissful feeling of falling in love while staring at his beloved’s eyes in his new single “Iyong Mga Mata,” dropping on music platforms this Friday (Sept. 8).

“The song is about falling in love at first sight. Looking into someone’s eyes is like looking deep into who they really are. Sabi nga nila, the eyes are the window to the soul, and they never lie,” he said.

The Star Pop artist composed the track while Nameless Kids vocalist Nhiko Sabiniano took charge of its production.

Drei began his music career when he participated in the second season of “The Voice Teens Philippines” under the team of Coach Apl.de.Ap. Last year, he returned to the stage when he joined the “Idol Philippines” season 2 and became one of its 12 finalists.

“From ‘The Voice Teens PH’ and ‘Idol PH,’ dala-dala ko yung learning na always keep moving forward. ‘Wag na ‘wag titigil sa pag-improve and pag-hone ng talent and keep an open mind kasi there’s always something na matututunan sa kada situation,” Drei shared.

He previously released his self-penned songs “Ganun Talaga” and “Aking Tangi” under Star Pop.

Listen to Drei’s newest single “Iyong Mga Mata,” out this Friday (Sept. 8) on various music streaming platforms. For more details, follow Star Pop on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
