The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) disbursed PHP68.3 million in protective services in 2025 for children in conflict with the law, victims of human trafficking and senior citizens, an official reported Friday.

Under the Centers and Residential Care Facilities (CRCF), the funds disbursed for the program included Angels Haven (PHP9.2 million), Home for the Aged (PHP15.7 million), Home for Girls and Women (PHP14.3 million), Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (PHP16.4 million), and Reception and Study Center for Children (PHP12.7 million).

In a press briefing, Gemma Dela Cruz, chief of DSWD-11’s protective services division, said 478 clients from the CRCF benefited from the agency’s protective services, while 165 clients were rehabilitated under the program.

“Aside from that, we also have the supplementary feeding and community-based programs,” she added.

Dela Cruz said the community-based program includes interventions for solo parents and rescue in online sexual abuse or exploitation of children cases.

Last year, DSWD-11’s supplementary feeding program served children in 2,752 child development centers (CDCs) and supervised neighborhood plays (SNPs).

Larraine Villaver, nutritionist dietitian of DSWD-11’s SFP, said they reached 96.73 percent or 87,560 of their target 89,879 children.

“We measure the children’s height and weight to determine their nutritional status. They are then fed at the CDCs,” she added. (PNA)
