The only barangay-managed child development center in Pasig City was accredited and recognized as an “outstanding” facility by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), which was also granted a Level 3 status.

In recognition of Barangay San Antonio’s (BSA’s) Child Development Center, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto personally handed the recognition from the DSWD to Barangay San Antonio (BSA) chairman Raymond Lising during Monday’s flag-raising ceremony at the city hall.

“I would like to thank the representatives of DSWD for being very helpful and patient with us in order to comply with all the indicators during the evaluation. We would not be able to achieve this without their guidance and wisdom,” Lising said in a news release on Wednesday.

All the other child development centers in Pasig are managed by the city government. Out of the 30 barangays, BSA is the only one that fully manages its own child development center.

“Each barangay in Pasig has a child development center but the one in BSA is the only one fully managed and operated by a barangay. The rest are managed by the city government,” he explained.

Lising said it is very appropriate to have a child development center that lays the foundation of learning for every child and to prepare them as well for the K-to-12 education.

He attributed the DSWD recognition to their barangay’s hard work and teamwork.

“I believe what made us stand out was our determination to comply with the evaluation tools of DSWD,” he said. “For a center solely managed by a barangay, it was not easy to achieve the indicators for accreditation but through our hard work and teamwork, we were able to pass the evaluation, and achieve the highest attainable score for a child development center.”

He said their barangay put their resources to good use to achieve outstanding recognition, adding that “it was really following and complying with all the indicators present in the evaluation tools.”

With this new milestone, Lising has vowed to strive to deliver more innovative and quality services for all the residents of their barangay.

“BSA will continue to strive to deliver quality education and prepare our young constituents with their educational journey. Through these efforts, our goal is to produce young active citizens that can make an impact in our community in the future,” he said.

Sotto earlier publicly lauded the programs of Barangay San Antonio, and even urged other barangays in Pasig to emulate BSA’s programs. (PNA)
