The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regional office here has extended at least PHP24.8 million worth of assistance to families affected by Typhoon Tino in Eastern Visayas.
According to the agency’s situation report released Thursday, the relief aid consists of 42,155 family food boxes, 124 ready-to-eat food packs, and 1,767 non-food items distributed to affected individuals and families across the region.
The DSWD said the figures reflect ongoing coordination with local government units and partner agencies to ensure the timely delivery of assistance to communities hit by the typhoon.
Each family food box contains six kilograms of vacuum-sealed rice, five sachets of coffee, five cereal energy drinks, and 10 canned goods —enough to sustain a family of five for a day as they recover from the impact of the typhoon.
“We are committed to ensuring timely and sufficient aid for families and communities affected by disasters across Eastern Visayas,” DSWD Eastern Visayas regional information officer Jonalyndie Chua said.
“Our coordination with local government units is ongoing as we monitor the situation in affected areas and provide the necessary assistance for ongoing response and recovery efforts.”
DSWD field teams remain on the ground conducting continuous assessments in affected areas, monitoring evacuation centers, and overseeing the distribution of relief goods.
Typhoon Tino has affected at least 141,423 families, or 499,360 individuals, when it crossed Eastern Visayas on Nov. 4. (PNA)
