The Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will benefit over 20,800 daycare children enrolled in 692 child development centers in 18 municipalities in Antique.

DSWD SFP program in charge in Antique Faith Villavicencio said some local government units (LGUs) already received their funds from PHP37.6 million total allocation for the province in time for the school opening.

“There will be a total of 20,895 daycare children who are target beneficiaries of the 120-day SFP implementation in the 18 municipalities of the province,” she said.

The fund for 1,395 targeted children in Laua-an LGU was downloaded on July 26, Anini-y for 822 children on Aug. 6, and Culasi with 2,066 children beneficiaries on Aug. 12.

In preparing, LGUs are encouraged to use locally sourced vegetables and meat products, she said.

During the feeding program, the child will be served hot meals made of vegetables, meat, and rice prepared by their parents.

“Aside from the hot meals, there will also be fresh dairy milk for 950 malnourished children in San Remigio and 900 in Laua-an,” Villavicencio added.

The dairy milk from the Hamtic Multi-Purpose Cooperative (MPC) and Pandan MPC, in partnership with the Philippine Carabao Center, is intended to speed up the nutritional improvement of children. (PNA)
