Everyone remembers Emma Watson as this adorable little girl back when she was still the muggle-born witch, Hermoine Granger. But just like everybody else, the Harry Potter star isn’t getting any younger. Turning 30 on April 2020, she has been getting a lot of pressure on the discussion of where her love life’s headed.

In a British Vogue interview, the actress revealed that she has no boyfriend, but she’s happy being single or “self-partnered” as what she calls it.

“I was like, ‘Why does everyone make such a big fuss about turning 30? This is not a big deal…’” Watson says.

The Little Women star never thought she’d stress about turning 30— She added, “Cut to 29, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, I feel so stressed and anxious. And I realize it’s because there is suddenly this bloody influx of subliminal messaging around. If you have not built a home, if you do not have a husband, if you do not have a baby, and you are turning 30, and you’re not in some incredibly secure, stable place in your career, or you’re still figuring things out… There’s just this incredible amount of anxiety.”

Watson spoke about how the pressure of where women should be by 30 had an effect on her. She admitted she had ideas of what her life should be like at that certain age.

“I never believed the whole ‘I’m happy single’ spiel,” she said. “I was like, ‘This is totally spiel.’ It took me a long time, but I’m very happy [being single]. I call it being self-partnered.”

Despite the worries and pressure, Watson is busy building her career, living on her own pace, and she claims she has learned to be happy.
