After many years of serving Filipinos and even tourists with their variety of stores, Ayala Land decided to let go of Greenbelt 1 next year.
On July 12, an online news website interviewed the founder of Ayala Land, wherein they announced that they had already come up with the decision to replace Greenbelt 1.
Considering that it is their oldest building, established in 1988, the company disclosed that they intended to replace the shopping mall to comply with modernization and current trends.
Noting that it is one of the most remarkable places in Makati, the company disclosed that they will still maintain the Greenbelt Park and chapel.
The said decision was made because Ayala Land wanted to maximize the use of its commercial space, noting that Greenbelt 2 to 5 has more retail space and floors.
Moreover, the company wanted to develop its services for the public by giving a “more modern complex” shopping mall and larger parking spaces to shoppers.
In line with the removal of Greenbelt 1, the company already reached out to the offices that are located alongside the said mall to comply with the needs for its demolition.
Ayala Land announced that Greenbelt 1 will officially be removed by the first half of 2024.
