The government has so far provided some PHP257.6 million worth of assistance to areas in Mindanao affected by bad weather caused by the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the trough of a low pressure area early this month.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), in its latest situation report on Wednesday, said this assistance consists of canned goods, bottled water, blankets, family food packs, hygiene kits, medical supplies, modular tents, tarpaulin, sleeping kit, rice, shelter repair kits, and assorted other items.

These were given to residents in Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and Davao, it added.

As of this posting, the number of unvalidated deaths remains at 22, all from the Davao region.

Still undergoing confirmation are reports of 11 injured and two missing persons also in the Davao region.

Damage to infrastructure and agriculture is estimated at PHP1.19 billion and PHP558 million, respectively. (PNA)
