The Iligan City government released more than PHP2.5 million worth of cash gifts to its elderly beneficiaries.

In a statement on Tuesday, Mayor Frederick Siao said the Office of Senior Citizens’ Affairs managed to give PHP10,000 each to 245 elderly beneficiaries, aged 80 to 95.

A centenarian, on the other hand, received PHP100,000 as mandated by law.

Siao noted that the city government fully supports the program initiated by the National Commission of Senior Citizens, as he pledged to adopt national policies within the local government unit’s implementation.

“We, at the city government, always talk about programs for senior citizens, especially regarding the Senior Citizens Community Care Center (SC3C),” he said.

Siao said the SC3C is an elderly care facility that would provide community-driven wellness initiatives. (PNA)
