Iligan City has completed 12 out of 14 planned projects within two years aimed at significantly upgrading its main public healthcare facility.

In a statement on Friday, Mayor Frederick Siao highlighted the substantial improvements at the city-run Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital (GTLMH), noting that the institution has gained numerous modern facilities and enhanced services in its 59 years of operation.

“GTLMH is no longer just an old city hospital; it has been transformed into a symbol of hope, compassion, and genuine progress for our community,” Siao said.

Siao also acknowledged the pivotal leadership of Dr. Richilio Daguman, the hospital’s chief, in effectively facilitating the crucial upgrades across various departments within the institution.

He further underscored the rapid pace of development, noting that seven significant programs and projects have already been implemented at GTLMH in the first four months of this year alone.

These implemented programs include the installation of a centralized oxygen system, the acquisition of modern computed tomography (CT) scan and ultrasound machines, and the establishment of a 22-chair hemodialysis unit, among other vital improvements.

The Gregorio T. Lluch Memorial Hospital serves as Iligan City’s primary public hospital, with the local government providing substantial subsidies for its operations, including a zero-billing initiative in partnership with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PNA)
