The provincial government of Ilocos Norte is extending the deadline for payment of business renewal fees, taxes and other government fees until Feb. 29.

Provincial Board member Franklin Dante Respicio confirmed this in an interview on Monday following the approval of Provincial Ordinance No. 2024-01-244, granting the one-month extension.

“The resolution was certified as urgent by Governor Matthew Joseph Manotoc to extend the payment of government developmental fee, other taxes, and fees by business owners and operators in the province of Ilocos Norte, without surcharges and penalties,” he said.

The extended deadline aims to give extra consideration or temporary relief to business owners who are struggling to recover from economic losses, he added.

As of Monday, less than 30 percent of the total number of businesses in the province have paid their corresponding taxes, according to the Provincial Treasurer’s Office. (PNA)
