The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) bared Monday that the province of Misamis Occidental will host its National Fire Olympics in March 2026.

During the opening of the Northern Mindanao Regional Fire Olympics in Oroquieta City, BFP chief and Fire Director Jesus Fernandez said the province will be the 10th host for its national event.

Fernandez said the province would be a good “testing ground” for the bigger event, given it successfully hosted the regional competition at the city’s sports facilities.

“We will test this place for the whole nation to showcase their skills, and for the province to showcase its tourism to all BFP personnel nationwide,” Fernandez said.

Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. said delegates to the event may witness the completion of the Asenso Misamis Occidental Resorts and Aquamarine Park.

The project, which started in 2024 with an initial construction amount of more than PHP600 million, is dubbed the upcoming “Maldives of Mindanao.” The park is situated in Barangay Libertad Bajo, Sinacaban. (PNA)
