The provincial government here is committed to delivering more responsive health care for Negrenses as the province marked the 15th year of the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Program (NOCHP) in a ceremony held at the Negros Residences on Tuesday.

In his message, Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said the event celebrates the countless lives touched, the communities served, and the families given hope by the Capitol’s priority program.

“NOCHP was conceived from a simple yet powerful vision, that Negrenses shall be provided with proper medical care. It was a vision anchored on equity and sustained by partnership,” he added.

Under the program, a health insurance entitles members and their qualified dependents to free outpatient care in participating government hospitals.

All NOCHP members are entitled to a PHP5,000 yearly assistance for medication, laboratories, radiologic examinations, dental services, and medicines, among others.

From January to September this year alone, the NOCHP served 52,454 patients with a total availment of PHP78.295 million.

The figures significantly surpass the total patients served of only 6,885 and the availment of PHP74.133 million for the entire 2024.

“More than statistics, these numbers represent stories of healing, of relief, and public service that truly work for our constituents,” Lacson said as he acknowledged the commitment of the Provincial Health Office and the support of the local chief executives, barangay officials, and community leaders in promoting the NOCHP.

The governor assured the Negrense families that the province will continue to improve, innovate, and extend the reach of the NOCHP.

“As we move forward, the challenge remains – to strengthen our health systems, expand our coverage, and continue bridging the gap between need and access,” he added.

Lacson said the provincial government aims to make its own health network more responsive, efficient, and equitable through the continued integration of the NOCHP with the One Hospital Command, Digitized Health and Emergency Management, and other health initiatives. (PNA)
