At least seven rural health units in Bicol Region received ambulances from the Department of Health in Bicol (DOH-5) earlier this week.
“We are more than happy to turn over these land ambulances. To our drivers, do not forget to practice road safety and defensive driving so that our patients can make it safely to the health facility,” DOH Bicol Regional Civil Engineer Roengen Punzalan said in a statement.
He said the seven Type 1 land ambulances were turned over to the recipients from the provinces of Albay, Camarines Norte and Masbate.
The recipients were from rural health units in San Vicente, Camarines Norte; Baleno and Batuan in Masbate; Rapu-Rapu and Malilipot in Albay; Dr. Lorenzo P. Ziga Memorial Municipal Hospital and Manito Municipal Hospital.
“The turnover of the land ambulances serves as a crucial stepping stone to improved, accessible, and safely-executed emergency response and referral of patients,” he added.
Each unit is equipped with basic medical supplies and equipment worth PHP2.08 million. (PNA)
