The Dasay Elementary School in San Juan, La Union province will have two new classrooms when the new school year opens June 16.

In a statement on Tuesday, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Ilocos Region information officer Esperanza Tinaza said the one-story school building will provide a significant improvement to learners’ educational experience.

“The construction project included earthworks, masonry, and civil finishing tasks to ensure a durable and conducive learning environment. Designed to accommodate modern learning needs, the structure enhances ventilation, lighting and space availability for both academic and extracurricular activities,” she said.

The project worth PHP5.97 million and funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2024, started in April last year and was recently completed.

“Overall, this development stands as a vital investment in the community’s youth, it fosters not just academic achievement but also broader community development,” Tinaza said.

“This project underscores the government’s commitment to support rural education and uplifting community infrastructure through sustainable and effective initiatives.” (PNA)
