The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) assured there will be no scheduled power interruption this Christmas season.

“The NGCP line personnel and engineers will be working 24/7 so there will be no scheduled power shutdown during the holiday,” Michelle Viscera, NGCP corporate communications officer, said in her message during the Antique Media Christmas Party at the Antique Electric Cooperative (Anteco) Compound.

She said the scheduled power interruption could be due to some maintenance work and the NGCP personnel have to momentarily shut down the power.

She said power in Antique province is transmitted by the NGCP specifically from its line from Santa Barbara, Iloilo province to San Jose de Buenavista where there is the Anteco substation.

“There is the 138 kilovolts (KV) specific line from Santa Barbara to San Jose de Buenavista,” she added.

Anteco is the power distributor to its consumers in the province.

Meanwhile, Viscera reminded the consumers to conserve power by using LED Christmas lights and other lighting brands known to be power savers.

“Also households should make sure that they have detached their appliances from their electric sockets,” she said.

Appliances not detached from their electrical sockets continue to consume power because they are on standby mode, she said. “The refrigerators should be properly closed,” she said.

Anteco general manager Luduvico Lim said they are requesting private landowners to cooperate with them especially in the cutting of their trees to ensure that there will be no fallen tree that could disrupt their delivery of power to the households.

“As we could notice there is much vegetation along the road that is also a reason why we have power interruptions because of our line being affected by the fallen tree,” he said. (PNA)
