Northern Samar’s provincial capitol grounds continued to draw huge crowds after being transformed into a nightly Christmas attraction.

Dubbed Karibhungan sa Pasko (Christmas festivities) 2024, the site in the capital town of Catarman came alive anew as Christmas displays were lit up to bring Yuletide cheers to visitors, Jhon Allen Berbon, Northern Samar’s provincial economic development and investment promotions office head, said Wednesday.

“Indeed, the spirit of Christmas is alive in Northern Samar, where the government and the private sector, in an inspiring display of unity, positivity, and charity, come together to create a delightful show for the people of Northern Samar,” Berbon said in a phone interview.

The display opened on Oct. 25 but was closed due to the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami) and Super Typhoon Pepito (Man-yi). It will run until Jan. 6, 2025.

Featured in the Karibhungan sa Pasko are a giant Christmas tree, a magical light tunnel, and creatively designed booths featuring 14 top destination countries around the world.

The provincial government thanked private groups and individuals who brought to life crowd-favorite characters and destinations – Hong Kong’s Disneyland, USA, Hollywood, Europe, Japan, and Antarctica.

The local government launched the Karibhungan sa Pasko 2024 to give residents and visitors a chance to feel the warmth of the holidays and experience the magic of Christmas from around the world.

Berbon said the display marks community volunteerism, unity, cooperation, and public service as various government agencies and non-government organizations come together and put in their creativity, talent, and time to create a festive atmosphere. (PNA)
