LRT-1 private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) is reaffirming its commitment to community development by renewing its partnership with Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. This collaboration is sponsoring 25 students from partner school Baclaran Elementary School Central for the 2025-2026 school year, providing them with essential English literacy support.

The initiative kicked off with a Bin Turnover & Parent Commitment event, bringing together the parents and students who will be the beneficiaries of the partnership.

A memorandum of agreement was recently signed by LRMC Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Department Head Jason N. Magdaong; Binhi English Literacy Foundation, Inc. Founder Lisa T. Bayot; and Baclaran Elementary School Central Principal I Ma. Carina L. Bautista to formalize the partnership.

“We believe that a strong foundation in literacy is a building block for a brighter future,” LRMC Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) Department Head Jason N. Magdaong said. “By continuing our partnership with Binhi, we are not only helping these young students improve their reading skills but also empowering them to reach their full potential. This is our way of contributing to a more literate and prosperous nation.”

The program will benefit students aged 5 to 8, helping them build a strong foundation in reading and comprehension.

LRMC’s support for the program is rooted in its dedication to the well-being of communities along the LRT-1 and its belief in the potential of Filipino children. This initiative directly contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 4: Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Since the partnership began in 2020-2021 school year, the program has provided vital support to more than a hundred scholars, helping them overcome learning challenges and thrive in their studies. The program’s use of proven teaching methodologies, along with the training of public-school teachers and qualified volunteers, ensures effective learning outcomes for every child.

Through this continued partnership, LRMC and Binhi are demonstrating how private-sector support can create a significant, positive impact on the lives of young Filipinos, paving the way for a more educated and empowered generation.
