About 3,300 senior citizens have yet to receive their coronavirus shots that would protect them from adverse effects of the virus.

Aileen Refuerzo, Public Information Office (PIO)-Baguio chief, said Monday barangay health emergency response teams are going to every house to convince elderlies to get the shot.

“Nagtutulong-tulong lahat para ma-locate at ma-convince ‘yung natitira pa na magpa-vaccine (Everyone is helping locate and convince the remaining unvaccinated elderly to be vaccinated),” she said.

Records show that as of August 19, the city has given full vaccine doses to 25,175 senior citizens while 2,234 are waiting for the second dose. The city has about 30,500 elderly population.

“May more than 80 percent na tayo na naka full dose pero gusto natin na mabakunahan lahat ng senior citizen para may protection sila (We have vaccinated over 80 percent who received the full dose but we want that all senior citizens receive the shots so that they will have protection),” she said.

Refuerzo said different vaccine brands were administered to the population who either went to the mega, district or satellite vaccination sites or through the mobile vaccination team that serve immobile senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

The mobile vaccination team can also serve the requests of groups with at least ten senior citizens who wanted to be vaccinated off-site.

Refuerzo said senior citizens are prioritized in all vaccination sites, but they still need to register at the city’s online vaccination portal bakuna.baguio.gov.ph where they are provided with quick response (QR) code for recording purposes. (PNA)
