To further increase its membership, the Pag-IBIG Fund launched the “Pag-IBIG Asenso Rider Raffle Promo” on Wednesday here by enticing more delivery riders to avail of the agency’s services.
In an interview, Pag-IBIG Fund chief executive officer Marlene Acosta said they are targeting some 400,000 transport network vehicle service (TNVS) and app-based courier companies in the country to become members.
Hundreds of food riders from FoodPanda and Grab attended the launching wherein mobile phones, helmets, fuel cards, and PHP20,000 cash were raffled off for them.
“You can lend money and even have the chance to own a house if you become a member. If you happen to get a tip of let’s say a PHP100, you can directly pay it to Pag-IBIG,” Acosta said.
Currently, Pag-IBIG Fund has around 15 million members, the majority of whom are employed.
“The mandatory coverage applies to those workers who are receiving more than PHP1,000 per month. We urge the riders to avail because they do not have employers and we want to help them,” Acosta said.
She noted that payments can now be sent “digitally. You will no longer need to line up in the office. All you have to do is pay it through Pay Maya, or to other collection partners.”
Acosta clarified that their membership is voluntary, but a member may get the chance to get a housing loan should they have completed at least 24 months of payment.
“These people are the heroes during the pandemic. Through this, we will be able to help them for their families,” she said. (PNA)
