President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed the immediate implementation of priority projects in Zamboanga Peninsula to drive regional growth and boost connectivity.

Marcos issued the directive during a meeting with Cabinet officials and key members of the Regional Development Council-IX at Camp Major Cesar Sang-an in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur on Thursday, according to the Presidential Communications Office’s Facebook post.

He emphasized the importance of accelerating key infrastructure projects aimed at stimulating economic activities in the region.

“Inutos ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ang agarang pagpapabilis ng mga prayoridad na proyekto tulad ng pagpapahusay ng fish port, mga pangunahing kalsada, pantalan at paliparan upang mapalakas ang koneksyon ng mga komunidad at merkado (President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered the immediate acceleration of priority projects such as the improvement of fish ports, major roads, wharves and airports to strengthen connectivity between communities and markets),” the PCO said.

The PCO said the projects would help reduce transportation costs, boost agricultural and fishing production, accelerate economic development, strengthen education and skills training, and provide a more stable livelihood.

During the meeting, Marcos was briefed on high-impact projects in the region, including the Zamboanga Fish Port Complex improvement which is scheduled for completion this year.

Other priority infrastructure projects discussed were the Sindangan-Bayog-Lakewood Road; Improving Growth Corridors in Mindanao Road Sector Project; Daang Maharlika Improvement; Western Nautical Highway Network Improvement; and Coastal Roads along Rock Dive Inn, Crystal, Azul Mar, Love, Pangpang, and Solaj Beaches.

The PCO said the projects are targeted to be completed within the next two years.

Other projects that are already in the pipeline are the new Zamboanga Airport, Zamboanga Peninsula Integrated Fisheries Development Complex, and San Ramon New Port Project. (PNA)
