The Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) eyes to complete the distribution of 125,000 coconut seedlings for Antique farmers in February.

PCA-Antique Agriculturist II Joy Lyn Gaitan said in an interview Tuesday that they have already distributed 112,870, or 90 percent of the seedlings, to 1,133 farmers since November 2025.

The massive distribution is in support of the commitment of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to plant 100 million coconut trees by 2028.

Eligible farmers are those with a coconut farm of one hectare or less and registered with the National Coconut Farmers Registry System.

Antique has 53,000 registered coconut farmers.

“The coconut seedlings are being distributed to farmers throughout the province under the PCA’s Coconut Planting and Replanting Project,” she said.

Gaitan said they distribute Laguna Tall, Aromatic Green Dwarf and Green Tacunan Dwarf seedlings that could bear fruit in three years.

Aside from seedlings, Gaitan said they also gave away 10,390 bags of fertilizers to farmers with bearing coconut plants.

“A farmer is given two sacks of fertilizers for a half-hectare coconut farm,” she said.

Individual farmers or their associations interested in availing of the assistance may coordinate with the PCA. (PNA)
