The country’s total number of recovered coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases has reached 2,654,173 after 7,312 new recoveries were reported on Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the Department of Health (DOH) said recoveries account for 96.3 percent of the total case count which has reached 2,756,923 since the start of the pandemic last year.

Meanwhile, some 5,279 new infections brought the total number of active cases nationwide to 60,957.

About 77.5 percent of these active cases are mild, 6.1 percent are asymptomatic, 2.1 percent are critical, 5.1 percent are severe, and 9.20 percent are moderate.

Moreover, 208 new deaths were reported, bringing the total death toll due to the coronavirus to 41,793.

According to DOH data on Oct. 22, about 10.3 percent of 52,881 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

“About 23 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 16 are recoveries. Moreover, 154 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.

All laboratories were operational on Oct. 22 while two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

The two non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested, and 0.8 percent of positive individuals based on data in the last 14 days.

To date, 53 percent of 4,300 intensive care unit beds, 41 percent of 21,200 isolation beds, 38 percent of 14,500 ward beds, and 37 percent of 3,200 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19 nationwide.

Meanwhile, 46 percent of 1,500 intensive care unit beds, 35 percent of 4,900 isolation beds, 34 percent of 4,100 ward beds, and 35 percent of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in the National Capital Region. (PNA)
