Highlighting the beauty of different destinations worldwide, the Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Awards announced its chosen countries to pay tribute to their breathtaking destinations, airlines, hotels, and travel agencies including the Philippines.

On October 3, the Travel Weekly Asia Readers’ Choice Awards 2023 had an award ceremony in Singapore to showcase the tourism and hospitality of different countries.

Included in the list is the Philippines, which gained a spot under the Destination category as the country was recognized as the “Best Dive Destination” in Asia Pacific.

Known for its breathtaking bodies of water, the Philippines is not growing with its diving spots, as the local government units also take initiatives to preserve these tourist destinations in different provinces.

According to Northstar Travel Group Asia Vice President Irene Chua, the said recognition was to encourage different countries in Asia to make “collective efforts towards making the industry more progressive, exciting, and outstanding for all involved.”

Along with the Philippines that received recognition under the ‘Destination’ category are Thailand, Penang, and Taiwan, which gained the best island destination and destination marketing recognitions.

This is not the first time that the Philippines has received such recognition relating to its diving spots, as it also gained an award last September at the 2023 World Travel Award as Asia’s “leading dive destination.”

To maintain such recognition, the Department of Tourism has continued to order other government organizations and local government units to preserve the cleanliness of the different bodies of water in the country.
