The country has logged below 1,000 daily new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases for two consecutive days with 975 new infections that brought the total case count to 2,829,618 since the start of the pandemic last year.

The additional cases are slightly higher than the 849 recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) recorded on Wednesday.

In its latest case bulletin, the DOH also tallied 1,029 new recoveries, reducing the active cases to 17,796.

About 52.7 percent of these active cases are mild, 5.4 percent are asymptomatic, 6 percent are critical, 14.4 percent are severe, and 21.49 percent are moderate.

Some 193 new deaths were reported which brought the country’s Covid-19 fatalities to 47,875.

According to DOH data on November 23, about 2.8 percent of 38,961 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

“About 17 duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, 15 are recoveries,” it said. “Moreover, 181 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation”.

Two laboratories were not operational on Nov. 23 and three laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

The DOH noted the three laboratories contribute, on average, 0.3 percent of samples tested, and 0.2 percent of positive individuals based on data in the last 14 days.

To date, 30 percent of 3,700 intensive care unit beds, 27 percent of 20,000 isolation beds, 16 percent of 13,200 ward beds, and 19 percent of 3,100 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19 nationwide.

Meanwhile, 29 percent of 1,300 intensive care unit beds, 25 percent of 4,700 isolation beds, 20 percent of 4,000 ward beds, and 21 percent of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in the National Capital Region. (PNA)
