The country recorded its largest number of vaccine arrival in a single day on Wednesday with a total of 10,403,550 doses.

As of writing, the National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) received the 214,500 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine donated by the British government; 856,800 doses of Moderna jab from the German government; and 3,055,200 doses of Janssen vaccine from the Dutch government.

In the evening, 1,187,550 doses of Pfizer vaccine procured by the national government; 2,249,900 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine procured by the private sector; and 2,840,100 doses of Moderna vaccine donated by the German government will arrive at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

During the vaccine arrival, NTF Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor said in an interview these vaccines are crucial as the Department of Health confirmed cases of the Omicron variant in the country.

“We like to encourage our kababayans to be vaccinated. We have a lot of vaccines, which is effective against Covid-19, and with the presence of the reported Omicron now in the Philippines, then it is but necessary that everyone should be vaccinated,” Mayor said.

He added that despite the presence of the new variant of Covid-19, Filipinos can look forward to a better Christmas “and the only thing that is the answer to have a better Christmas is to be vaccinated.”

“It is the intention and the purpose of the National Vaccine Operation Center, led by Secretary (Carlito) Galvez (Jr.), that by the end of the year there will be 54 million Filipinos (that are) vaccinated, and as much as possible we will celebrate a better Christmas,” Mayor added. (PNA)
