The Philippines’ top tourist destinations were featured at the European travel market during the FITUR 2026 in Madrid, Spain, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said on Monday.

The DOT, in a Facebook post, shared that the country’s diverse tourism portfolio was presented to international buyers, industry partners and media via the Philippine Pavillion.

It promoted a mix of nature-based, cultural and urban experiences.

Featured destinations included Camiguin, known for its island landscapes; Palawan, famed for its beaches and dive sites; Cebu and Manila for heritage and urban attractions; Bohol for its countryside experiences; Dumaguete for its laid-back appeal; Siargao, recognized as a surfing destination; and the Cordillera Administrative Region for its highland culture.

The DOT said the country’s participation in the international travel fair aimed to strengthen market presence in Europe and generate business opportunities for Philippine tourism stakeholders.

Tourism enterprises, local government units and cultural groups joined the Philippine delegation, presenting the country’s natural attractions, cultural heritage and immersive travel experiences.

FITUR is one of Europe’s major international tourism trade fairs, serving as a platform for destinations worldwide to connect with global buyers and partners.

Meanwhile, over 100,000 visitors attended the TravelTour Expo 2026 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, availing of promotional fares, discounted tour packages and exclusive travel deals.

During the three-day fair, the DOT’s regional offices mounted booths highlighting world-renowned beaches, dive sites, mountain destinations, historical landmarks, and leisure and adventure activities across the country, positioning the Philippines as a year-round destination for both domestic and international travelers.

Participating regional offices included Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen and Caraga.

DOT attached agencies also joined the expo, including the Tourism Promotions Board, Philippine Retirement Authority and Duty Free Philippines.

The annual travel fair serves as a platform for industry stakeholders to promote destinations and strengthen partnerships, while encouraging more Filipinos to explore local tourism sites. (PNA)
